J. LEE STEELE CIRCUIT IN ZAMBIA

Steele Circuit Zambia phonics lesson in Sunday School

Happy New Year! We are looking forward to another year of sharing the Gospel and discipling people in the Word of God through Sunday School. Pray for the Riders during the month as this is the rainy season and the roads are difficult.

GATEWAY FELLOWSHIP SUNDAY SCHOOL

There has been an average attendance of 40 children and 11 adults. We are making progress in helping people understand what this new concept of Sunday School is all about. We have three adults who are doing so well in the teacher training course. They are showing both commitment and great interest. Alice is one who comes each week to Sunday school despite the threat that her aunt will throw her out of the house if she continues. Her aunt is a witch doctor and says that Alice’s prayers disturb her gods and she has held food from her if she catches her praying. Alice told us she has learned how to pray quietly and that she will continue to sneak out and attend Sunday school because she knows that God will take care of her even if she is thrown out of the aunt’s house.

SUN VALLEY C.U. SUNDAY SCHOOL

We thank God Almighty for the ministry here is this village. We have 12 adults who are consistently coming to learn. These adults had never had the opportunity to learn to read and write and so grateful we are teaching them. Their goal is to be able to read the Bible for themselves. We heard a sad story this month. Three children 12, 9, and 7 years old were in school when a heavy rain came and collapsed the roof of their humble shelter killing their grandmother. The three are orphans and now living with the village headman. Pray for these children and that we can be an encouragement to them each week at Sunday school.

J. LEE STEELE MEMORIAL SUNDAY SCHOOL

There are always a large number of children at this Sunday school as many as 160. The children are learning about prayer and have started to love praying. Mrs. Chakalashi who is also the Sunday school superintendent testified that her youngest daughter is sitting down and sharing truth with all her siblings and prays with everyone before they go to sleep each night. Victoria, 13, was touched by the lesson on patience. She said that she didn’t have patience with her parents and she promised to change. It is exciting to see the children and teens respond to God’s Word.

VIRGIL BIXLER MEMORIAL SS/BOB GROS MEMORIAL PAVILION

We are having about 40 children attending the Sunday school each week and about 10 adults. We are praying that many more children would be free to come. Many people drink in this area day and night. They are the ones that do not want their children attending Sunday school. Mr. Kapingu is a 70 year old man who lives alone but is faithfully attending both Sunday school and the literacy classes. The man is lame in one leg and doesn’t walk straight but he says that without God he would not be living. He is excited to learn to read the Bible by himself and is growing in the things of the Lord.

LIVING BY FAITH MINISTRY CHOIR SS/SIMS MEMORIAL PAVILION

An average of 50 children attend the Sunday school each week. The Sunday school is going very well in this area the people are very open to having us here. The children’s favorite story this month was about Joshua. Malaria is such a deadly disease. There were a total of 7 children who died from malaria in this village this month, two were faithful attendees of the Sunday school, they were 9 and ll. Praise God with us for all that He is doing here. The people have real needs but they are growing in the Lord.

JESUS LOVES CHILDREN SUNDAY SCHOOL

We are having an average attendance of about 50 children and nine adults. Despite challenges we have seen great improvement in the lives of those attending Sunday school. Mr. Lufupi is one of our first members in the literacy class. The man used to worship idols. He confessed that he believed in idols because of the belief they would give him power to do anything. Three months after attending Sunday school he asked Christ into his life, he said he has now realized the one true God. He had lived in idol worship for 40 years but realizes that this is the first time he has ever had peace. After three months of literacy classes he is now able to read some of the Bible. We praise God for this testimony of a changed born agin life.

KAREN MARY NYUMBA YA RAFA SUNDAY SCHOOL IN NGOSA

It is really fun teaching the children as they are happy to learn and to listen. People all around the Unit are saying that Sunday school is a wonderful thing. We recently had the lesson about the poor widow who gave everything and how important it was to give from the heart and unto Jesus. When we took our offering for Jesus one boy took off his shirt and put it in the offering. It was such a blessing to see that these people who have so little give so sacrificially, we pray God will bless them.

We trust and pray that you have enjoyed this update. We appreciate your faithful support so much!
