SIMS CIRCUIT IN ZAMBIA

GRACE CHAPEL CU SS/REDEEMER’S NEW LIFE PAVILION

When we first arrived at this village, the people could only speak their tribal language. When we introduced sunday school the kids started memorizing verses from the Bible in English. Eventually they began to speak more and more English and now they can even write English words. The adults are so grateful as they were not expecting their children to learn to read the Bible in English. As they have learned to read, we are now seeing evidence that many are obeying the Bible and are changing their behavior.

GREAT HOPE SUNDAY SCHOOL/BETHEL SS PAVILION

We are having an average attendance of 75 at the Sunday school each week. The Mwanza family lives far away from where we hold Sunday school and each week they make the long journey because the lessons have greatly impacted their lives. Mwewa, 3-years old, comes for Sunday school with her older sisters. The mother told us that when she is at home she sings the songs we have taught at the top of her lungs. She even sings the phonics alphabet song, but her favorites are about Jesus.

MARY MARTHA GRILEY LEISLER SS/JEHOVAH-SHAMMAN PAVILION

Sunday school is going well at this location. The children love to memorize the weekly verses and jump at the chance to be first to recite what they have learned. At times we run into serious medical problems. Kamo, is a hunter and last week he went hunting with friends and got caught in a trap. He broke his leg and had many flesh wounds. He came to Sunday school looking for medicine for the wounds and we were able to help him, Lord willing he will not get any infection. We praise the Lord for the opportunity to bring both physical and spiritual help to these people.

KAREN, HOLLY, JULIE SS OF HOPE/BOB GROS MEMORIAL

The Sunday school is going nicely in this area. We have a dedicated group of adults in the Teacher Training Course which is so encouraging. Torrny is young but not is school yet because the school is very far from where she stays. Through the MSSM ministry she is learning phonics and when she is old enough to make the long trip to school she will be prepared.

WAYNE HAINES MEMORIAL SUNDAY SCHOOL

We appreciate all that is happening at this Sunday school. Pray with us that more adults will become interested in the Teacher Training course. Joseph, 10 years of age has started coming to Sunday school and loves learning Bible stories. This month he loved the story of David and Goliath. The boy’s father stopped by to thank us for the change in his son and for teaching the community about the Word of God.

ETHEL RICHMAN MEMORIAL SS/A LIGHT IN THE DARKNESS PAVILION

This Sunday school is moving ahead nicely. We are having a good amount of people out each week. We met a boy named Kelvin, who is 17 and has not been to school for a long time because of lack of funds. He takes care of cattle all day but really wanted to continue school. This year the MSSM riders were able to move the boy closer to a Rescue Unit where he was given the uniform and school fees. He is so happy and grateful for this opportunity. The kids are really enjoying the quizzing. The prize each week is a piece of bubble gum something that these children rarely get. The following is a story that really blessed me from one of the Rescue Unit Sunday schools. The Lord is always so faithful to his children and His works are so precious. It is through and by His grace that a lot of people have been touched and lives changed. Mr. Kayombe, a 70 year old man lost his shelter due to heavy rains. The man has one good hand but the other is paralyzed. We visited him with a group of our Sunday school kids. The children had compassion on him and we decided to do something for the man. We put on a new roof of grass and now he has a place to sleep. The man rededicated his life after backsliding for 10 years due to the testimony of these children. He is now a new creature and we praise the Lord. We trust you enjoyed your report.

Blessings,

Mrs. Linda Maher
