How do the Sunday Schools operate?
Our Sunday School Circuit follows in the style of the old-fashioned horseback “Circuit Riders” who brought news from city to city on horseback. Our Circuit Riders use a different mode of transportation; they have traded in the saddles for a set of tires and ride motorcycles to get to each Sunday School class. A weekly Circuit consists of 6 Sunday Schools in 6 different villages. All of our Circuit Riders are graduates of our BMW program and know the local language of the villagers so Sunday School classes can begin immediately. Getting to these Sunday School locations can be difficult if not even impossible by a vehicle other than a motorcycle. The roads are walking paths with crude bridges to go across rivers, and lots of rain with potholes and mud holes. Sunday School classes are held in a pavilion that we have built at Rescue Unit or land given to us in the local village.
What happens at Sunday School?
1. Praise
Every Sunday School class begins with singing.
2. Bible Lesson
A Bible lesson is taught with pictures that help tell the story.
3. Bible Memorization
Learning a memory verse hides God’s Word in their heart.
4. Crafts
A craft is given to color; even though tables and benches are not available it doesn’t stop them from coloring on their knees, on the ground or a smooth surface of some kind
5.Games
Games played together, may be a relay race.
6. Quizzing
To encourage the children to memorize verses we have a time for quizzing competition. The winners will be able to attend Boot Camp as the champions, which will give them as sense of self-worth that is desperately lacking in their lives.
7. Phonics
As part of the Sunday School Class we are teaching phonics to children and adults. The abc’s are taught by a song. A flip chart teaches sounds of the letters and the phonics train helps reinforce the vowel sounds. Two and three letter words are introduced so that they can begin to read our phonics books. Phonics card games help reinforce lessons and they are enjoyed by all.
8. Teachers training
We train adults to become Sunday School teachers and trainers. The training program for Adult Sunday School teachers from the local village will help the class to continue to grow.
9. Alter Call
An invitation is given at the end of each lesson.
There are thousands of orphans, adults that need to attend a Sunday School. You can be a part of helping these people learn of Jesus Christ.
You can adopt a Sunday School by giving a monthly donation of
$79 a month or a perpetual one time gift of $12,000.00 will sponsor until the Lord comes.
As a sponsor you can name the Sunday School anything you want. Many chose to name Sunday Schools in honor or memory of someone who has had a lasting impact on their lives.
A banner with the picture of the sponsor group and the name chosen for the school will be placed at the Sunday School site.
We will also supply a banner with a photo of the African Sunday School class standing in front of your banner.
